BookTalk August 2025

I miss discussing books. Not in the "join a book community," type of way because I am not good at group activities. But, I do enjoy hearing about what people are reading. Learning what they "get" from a read and hearing how similar or different our views are always makes for a good time.
Early last year, while recovering from surgery, I dove into The StoryGraph, a Black-owned company, founded by Nadia Odunayo and Rob Frelow. It's a book-lovers community and alternative to that other site, built by Odynayo and a very small three person team (seriously, purchase the pro plan to help them out). They are building and expanding its capabilities and listening to their users on Threads, which is refreshing.
I found these gems by reading reviews on the app.

Masquerade by O.O. Sangoyomi

where the wild;owers grow by Terah Shelton Harris
